Pulau Menjangan (Deer Island)

By far the most popular part of West Bali is Pulau Menjangan (Deer Island), a tiny uninhabited island just 8km off the north coast, whose shoreline is encircled by some of the most spectacular coral reefs in Bali, perfect for snorkeling and diving, with drop-offs of 40-60m, first-class wall dives and superb visibility (though some parts of the reef are showing signs of damage). There's also an old shipwreck which is frequented by sharks and rays.

As the island is part of the national park, you're obliged to go with a guide. Guides and boat transport should be arranged at the jetty in LABUAN LALANG, 13km east of Cekik, on the Giliminuk-Singaraja bemo route (25 min from Gilimanuk or 2hr from Lovina). There's a small national park office here as well as several restaurants.
