ISLAND ADVENTURES

THOUSAND ISLANDS: HEAVEN FOR DIVERS
You may wonder where you can find such a spot in a city like Jakarta. If the place you're looking for is one where you can also do water sports, then Pulau Seribu (Thousand Islands) is the perfect destination. As the name suggests, Thousand Islands comprises numerous tiny islands scattered across Java Sea to the north of Jakarta; here you will find an abundance of water sports such as windsurfing, boating, jet skiing, swimming, sailing and snorkeling. Golden beaches fringed with coconut palms line the sea. The surrounding waters are paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers. With a myriad of tropical fish living among multicolor corals, the islands are great places to hang out and let the heaving city slip away behind you.

  • Pantara Island
The furthest island from Ancol Marina, Pantara Island is about 72 kilometers away - about two hours by boat. The distance from Jakarta means that the waters here are the clearest in the entire island group, making Pantara Island great diving and snorkeling as well as catamarans, wind surfing, jet skiing and other activities
  • Pelangi Island
The 70 kilometers trip to Pulau Pelangi takes about one and a half hours by speedboat, after which you arrive at an island covered lush foliage of palm and pine, and white sandy beaches gently kissed by clear azure waters.
  • Kulkul Kotok Island
The 70 kilometers trip to Pulau Pelangi takes about one and a half hours by speedboat, after which you arrive at an island covered lush foliage of palm and pine, and white sandy beaches gently kissed by clear azure waters.

Bali Island
Bali, the fabled " Island of the Gods", has been enchanting visitors for centuries with its rich cultural traditions and spectacular panoramas. From lofty, mist enshrouded volcanoes and cool mountain lakes down through terraced rice fields to a golden strand lapped by azure waters; every square inch of Bali offers a fresh and unforgettable image. more...

Medawi Island
If it wasn't for the big sign announcing its presence as you come up over a rise, driving west along the Jembrana coast, you'd never know it was there. Medewi lies in the middle of Bali's most sparsely populated and least developed district, the far-off regency of Jembrana 75 kilometers from Denpasar on the main road west (2.5 hours) or 34 kilometers west of Tabanan. All that can be seen are a string of houses and a solitary mosque along the highway. This tiny and remote tourist enclave, at the end of a 500 meter-long asphalt road, is actually one of Bali's premier surf spots - a private paradise for the Japanese and Australian surfing set (the rocky beach is not suitable for sunbathing or swimming). more...

Pulau Menjangan (Deer Island)
By far the most popular part of Bali Barat is Pulau Menjangan (Deer Island), a tiny uninhabited island just 8km off the north coast, whose shoreline is encircled by some of the most spectacular coral reefs in Bali, perfect for snorkeling and diving, with drop-offs of 40-60m, first-class wall dives and superb visibility (though some parts of the reef are showing signs of damage). There's also an old shipwreck which is frequented by sharks and rays. more...
